Medical practitioners, facing the highest risk of burnout compared to the general population. This due to rigorous long hour work culture and exposure to medical trauma, and death on a regular basis, which can lead to compassion fatigue and emotional exhaustion. Burnout poses a significant threat to the clinicians’ health, safety and providing high‐quality care.
RimbaScape is an immersive installation art project that provides a novel intervention for burnout by simulating a natural environment through multisensory experiences. Combining visual art, soundscapes, and aromatherapy, RimbaScape brings the serenity and healing properties of a forest into an indoor setting. The project utilizes a transdisciplinary approach, merging the fields of creative arts, chemistry, and psychology to create an environment that fosters mental and emotional well-being.
Participants enter the RimbaScape Room, where they are enveloped in a projection mapping of the Malaysian rainforest, accompanied by the sounds of nature and the aroma of essential oils formulated specifically for stress relief. The experience is enhanced by a custom-built ergonomic chair that integrates vibroacoustic therapy, providing gentle vibrations in sync with the soundscape. The multisensory approach is designed to engage participants on multiple levels, promoting relaxation, reducing stress, and restoring emotional balance.
